Alessandro Dell’Acqua was strongly influenced by the glamazons of Italian cinema, and it’s easy to envision this classic, wonderfully slouchy leather satchel draped over an elegant shoulder at Rome’s Termini Station.
Features include a double-zipper top with bidirectional zippers and double handles with a 7 1/2″ drop, a zippered inner pocket with signature hardware, outer pockets on either end, a luggage tag and a zippered outside pocket in front. An outer drawstring brings it all together, and metal “feet” protect the bag’s bottom from wear due to rough, well-traveled streets and platforms. Chanel Misses, the "Candy-Like" and "Tibet"

Yeah, we all know Chanel can do classic but there is more than one customer out there and they know it. In an attempt to do cute and funky they ended up with child-like and furry. Let's start with the child-like bag which is actually named "Candy-like". Through astute observation, they see that their core shoppers act like kids in a candy store at their boutiques, but they are taking this a little too literally. Observations need to be analyzed and processed not just regurgitated. We act like kids in a candy store but we don't actually want "candy". Even for the sake of the argument, let's say we do - this arm "candy" does not at all function well or is remotely cute. The chain is attached to one corner so it dangles oddly at your side, hanging like a giant Christmas ornament from your wrist, all the while spinning uncontrollably as you walk. When you put it on your shoulder, the pyramid / triangular shape does not conform to a human figure whatsoever and just sits away from you with nowhere for your arm to go. It comes in 2 sizes, the larger is $1295 and is about 12" at the base of the triangle, the smaller is $1150 and is around 8".
The other major misstep this season is the "Tibet", which I find offensive to the Tibetans who work so hard for their dignity. What it looks like is a Maltese. It is a classic lambskin flap with what looks like straggles of shearling fringes that were badly injured by a crimping iron. Save the shearlings for my coats, please and spare my bags of superfluous trimmings off random animals. Keep in mind you can get a python classic flap for $3400, this thing is $4995.

Sneak Preview:Emma Hill for Mulberry Spring 2009

Emma Hill introduces her first collection for Mulberry Spring 2009-- and we are in love! Hill stepped in just at the right time (as much as we love the Bayswater, we are ready for something new!) and punched up the collection with gorgeous new bags and a ready to wear collection that Kate Moss will surely be snapping up. New hardware, new shapes, a whole new perspective! There is also a metro sexual worthy menswear line including ultra chic man bags-- how exciting for our male readers! I am so excited about the new direction Mulberry is taking with Emma Hill. I ranted on the Maggie clutch for fall (not by Hill) and am so pleased to see that there will be plenty to praise in 2009. Best of the bunch is the Jenah bag in white creased leather ($1,195 feels very economic!)-- with chain detail and minimal hardware-- it is just the casual chic bag we need next spring! The Ava bag is fun and flashy in gunmetal-- great for evening. The Jenah also comes in a baguette shape (left) for those who prefer a daintier bag. Another great slouchy bag is the Shimmy hobo in nude leather. It drops perfectly in a rounded shape with a flat easy to carry shoulder strap (below center). Colors abound for Spring 2009 and it was no exception at Mulberry. There were coral colored jeans, pink shoes, yellow frocks-- all with bags in contrasting shades.

Mulberry made clutch sized versions of most of the new bags-- due to consumer demand. Women love clutches, holding it close to our bodies is much like a security blanket. I was able to use mine to hide a spill recently at a wedding.

YSL Black Tote

If you are looking to invest in one piece this season to take you through the depression crunch, YSL has the answer in its latest creation. A simple and chic black tote bag is always in style-- the gleaming shiny leather (not patent!) and unique shape keeps it from being yet another boring tote. Python Version Chloe Paraty

I love the shape and the minimal hardware. My one complaint of the Paddington was that heavy lock but we don't have to worry about that with the Paraty! The rolled leather detail is also amazing-- it gives the illusion of a structured bag but this is in fact as soft and slouchy as they come.The leather versions retail for $1,910 but it's the luscious python version at $3,820 with brushed gold hardware that I am dreaming of. These tiny divas always looks so spot-on trendy. I am loving Selena Gomez’s nautical beachy look in this photo but can’t quite place her fabulous, striped bag. I am totally drawn to the fisherman trend as of late. Maybe its because I am wishing there were still six more weeks of summer left for me to sport such pieces at my summer house. Or maybe because its a great, laid back kind of style that is perfect for daytime or a summer night. Her canvas handbag looks like it could hold everything you’d need even your bathing suit and some sunblock. Realistically, since it is fall after all, it could certainly fit a little sweater for the breezy autumn air.

DIY beautiful handbags/Tote

I'm very surprise to see these bags, although they aren't brand name, but they are so beautiful because of the rich colorways and Cute, i think it is quite good idea to match the sweater in this fall/winter, you can choose the colorway yourself, and don't worry about that it is the same bags with the others', and they are with reasonable price.

If you have enough time, you can knit it yourself in your love style and colorway, it will be also a permanent keepsake for your friend. Next time , i will post the pictures s howing how to DIY a handbags yourself.

Difference between the Chanel Classic Flap and the Chanel Reissue 2.55 bags

THE DIFFERENCES:

1. Closure/Locks: Classic has the double CC turn-style lock, the Reissue has the Mademoiselle lock (rectangular shape).

2. The handle: The reissue has an all chain handle, while the classic has leather interwoven between the chain links.

3. Reissue has a different type of leather, that is made to seem more worn than the caviar leather on the classics.

4. All the reissues have a double flap inside, whereas the Jumbo Classic does not.

5. The sizes on the Reissue are different than the sizes on the Classic Flaps.

Fendi Rocks Spring 2009

It appears Spring 2009 will be the season of Fendi bags! I am as shocked as you that I love these bags but I do. Style.com called it the "kangaroo pouch" and WWD called it the "undone birkin"-- Fendi's new lovely comes in every color and material imaginable; crisp white crocodile, black patent, textured lace, woven toile, and what appears to be lizard-- each with a contrasting interior. I love the carefree and effortless look of the bag; the side pouches may be left undone as shown on the runway or pulled up and attached to the turn lock. To me, the only resemblance to the birkin is the square shape; the top and hardware is completely different and a refreshing change from Fendi's usual. The peekaboo see thru woven clutches are also incredibly chic and subtly sexy. I can't wait for the Spring look book to be sent to me.

A perfect bag for the laid-back vibe would be the Gryson Olivia Pleated Drill Bag. The combination on this bag, which is exclusively at Saks, is the perfect hipster look. The gathered blue Italian nylon is trimmed with calfskin leather. Sure, I would prefer this bag in all leather, buy nylon brings the price down and is always a great option for keeping a bag clean and sturdy. As much as black and blue can look like a bruise together, I ultimately love it on this bag! There are two buckled adjustable shoulder straps, double woven top handles, and a zip top closure. Also the outside features a single flap pocket with a zipper. Even though the outside features nylon, Gryson does not skimp on the inside and they line the bag with suede. We already have talked about how grey is one of the hottest colors for F/W 08, so it’s no wonder that handbags are cropping up by the dozen in this neutral shade.
